1. How do I enable GPRS?
a) SingTel
- Postpaid and Prepaid
Key * 43327 and press call. Reply SMS with option1. Reply
with your phone model eg. For Nokia 7260 - key in 7260, for
Nokia N70 - key in N70. For Sony Ericsson W800i - key in
W800i and for Motorola Razr V3 - key in V3. You will receive
3 service settings via SMS. Please save the settings. Switch
off and on the handphone. GPRS is now enabled. b) StarHub - Postpaid
Please call 1633 and follow instructions - Prepaid
Key *110# and press call. You will receive an
acknowledgement SMS. Go to Write Message and key in
' S phone model ' eg. S N70 for Nokia N70, S 7260 for Nokia
7260, S W800i for Sony Ericsson W800i and for Motorola
Razr V3 - key in S V3 and send it to 2000. You will receive 2
settings SMS. Go to options and save the settings. Switch
off and on the handphone. GPRS is now enabled. c) M1 -Postpaid
Please call 1627 and follow instructions. -Prepaid
GPRS is pre-activated; however you need to SMS your phone
model to set the settings.
Go to Write Message and key in 'phone modelp ' eg. N70p
for Nokia N70, 7260p for Nokia 7260, W800ip for Sony
Ericsson W800i and for Motorola Razr V3 - key in V3p and
send it to 109. You will receive 1to 3 settings SMS depending
on your phone model. Go to options and save the settings.
Switch off and on the handphone. 2. What are the charges for downloading OliSellinam? Charges vary for different service operators and it is charged
on a Pay-per-Use basis . ( 5-15 cents per 10 kilobyte).
OliSellinam is about 80 kb. GPRS traffic charges are applied
only when downloading the application. 3. I have downloaded the application, but I could not find it
in my phone. Where do I look for it? On Nokia Series-40 phones (like Nokia 3220, 6230, 6230i
6020, 6030 etc) look for it in the "Collections" folder inside
the "Applications" menu. On Nokia Series-60 phones (like Nokia 6600, 6680, N70 etc),
the SMS software will be in the main screen On SonyEricsson and other phones, look for it in Games,
Applications or Fun-Box folder 4. When I open the OliSellinam, it’s asking me to Subscribe.
What is this subscription and how do I subscribe to the
service? Subscription is to allow you to send SMS in Tamil. Press OK to
initiate a subscription request. The request will be sent by
SMS. Once successful, your subscription will be activated for
one month. The subscription fee will be deducted from your
account. * Note : From now till 14th November 2006, the
subscription fee is waived. Afterwhich you need to
subscribe to enjoy the services. 5. If I don’t want to subscribe, but I want to send a Tamil
SMS dedication to Oli 96.8FM, can I still type in Tamil and
send the SMS? You need to subscribe to OliSellinam in order to compose and
send a Tamil SMS to Oli 96.8FM * Note : From now till 14th November 2006, you can
compose and send Tamil SMS to Oli 96.8FM without
having to subscribe to OliSellinam 6. Can I request for a content SMS without having to
subscribe? You must be subscribed to request for contents in Tamil. * Note : From now till 14th November 2006, you can
request for a content Tamil SMS without having to
subscribe to OliSellinam 7. What happens if I use an unlisted brand/model to
request? You will get the service message (also called a WAP push) –
but you will not be able to access the download page or
download the application. The WAP page will prevent the
downloading. You will be directed to a page that lists all
supported brand and models. 8. When I send a Tamil SMS, will I be charged? It depends on the plan that you have subscribed to with the
service operators. There is no difference in charges between
regular and language SMS. 9. Should my recipients have OliSellinam in their phones to
read my messages? Yes. In order to read the messages in Tamil, your recipients
must have OliSellinam in their phones. Otherwise, they will
read your message in Romanised Tamil. Note that receiving
in Tamil may not be supported in some phone models.
10.Can I send and receive SMS in Tamil with my friends and
family in India, Sri Lanka and other countries? Yes. The recipients from the other countries must also have
the application. However they need to subscribe to the
service in order for them to send you a SMS in Tamil.
11.Can I subscribe to OliSellinam anytime or do I have to
wait for the 1 st of the month. You can subscribe to OliSellinam anytime of the year and the
application will be activated for exactly 30 days from the date
you subscribed. 12.Do I need to know how to type in Tamil before I
subscribe to OliSellinam? Typing in Tamil is easy. To compose a message in Tamil, try
typing it as if you are doing it in Roman alphabets. To see the
keymap for each letter, select Tamil Letters from the
"Options" menu in the message editor. 13.I have Sellinam already installed in my handphone, can I
nbspdownload OliSellinam onto my handphone too? You have to delete your existing Sellinam first. In some cases
(like Nokia Series40) you may have to remove the battery
and put it back again to ensure that no instance of the old
Sellinam is in there. Then please go through the process of
requesting through the short-code. 14.What is the difference between Sellinam and
OliSellinam? Sellinam allows you to compose, send and receive Tamil SMS
and is activated thru activation codes. (It is no longer
available) OliSellinam is activated through monthly subscriptions and
has three aspects: a) Compose and send Tamil SMS dedications, requests and
messages to Oli 96.8FM without having to remember or to
key in the shortcode. b) Request for content Tamil SMS and there are 6 content
types c) Compose, send and receive SMS messages in Tamil to
